Place to see: Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, Fort Worth, Texas, United States

About this place:

The Modern collects, presents, and interprets international developments in post–World War II art in all media. The Modern maintains one of the foremost collections of modern and contemporary art in the central United States and hosts major traveling exhibitions. The Permanent Collection consists of more than 3,000 works including pieces by Anselm Kiefer, Robert Motherwell, Pablo Picasso, Jackson Pollock, Gerhard Richter, Susan Rothenberg, Richard Serra, Andres Serrano, Cindy Sherman, and Andy Warhol.

The building was designed by the Japanese architect Tadao Ando. Ando's design, which embodies the pure, unadorned elements of a modern work of art, is comprised of five long, flat-roofed pavilions situated on a 1.5 acre pond.
