  I had the chance to spend 2 days on Fraser Island in september 2005. We booked a tour with Cool Dingo Tour. It's a really nice tour, which you should consider if you're not exploring the island by yourself.

  It's a tour aimed at backpackers.

  Bring a pair of shoes along with your flip-flop, beacause one of the first things our ranger told us, was about the world's dangerous snakes and spiders living on the island.
