Trevi Fountain

Trevi Fountain

Throw a coin into the fountain and you'll come back in Rome again.

About this place:

The Trevi Fountain (Italian: Fontana di Trevi) is the largest — standing 25.9 meters (85 feet) high and 19.8 meters (65 feet) wide — and most ambitious of the Baroque fountains of Rome. It is located in the rione of Trevi.

The Trevi Fountain in Rome is a beautiful and stunning fountain. However, prepare to be frustrated because it is very difficult to find a position where you can get a good picture of the entire fountain. There are crowds of people and small perimeter spaces so that everyone is jockeying for that same elusive good angle. Here is the detail of its center pinnacle. Sometimes it is good to focus on one detail lest we not appreciate any as the enormity of the work is almost too much to comprehend.

With all the beautiful and historical sights to see in Rome, there was one picture worthy moment that caught my eye. The tradition while at the Trevi Fountain is to throw a coin over your left shoulder and it means you will return to Rome again. Well, while making that wish, I took this picture of this Collie dog in the fountain. On what was a very hot day, many of us were envious that the dog was able to do what we would have been arrested for—I knew that if my wish came true to return to Rome one day, that I would most likely never see this sight again.
