1914 Battle Memorial-Falkland Islands

December 8th is a public holiday in the Falklands to commemorate the 1914 Battle of the Falklands.

About this place:

Two War Memorials and the Christ Church Cathedral (1892) hold honored places along the main street--Ross Road, in Stanley on the Falkland Islands. The 1914 Battle Memorial is an imposing monument as is the 1982 War Memorial designed by a Falklander and built by volunteers. A must see is the Britannia House Museum which gives an insight into the way of life and history of the Falkland Islands.
