Green Gables

Green Gables

This idyllic home is featured in Canada's most famous novel, Anne of Green Gables. It was a childhood dream of mine to see the home and area where Anne grew up and I finally have done so and am now aching to return to this beautiful setting located in Cavendish inside of Prince Edward Island National Park.

About this place:

Green Gables is a farm in Cavendish, Prince Edward Island where Lucy Maud Montgomery's cousins lived. LMM was very fond of the home and spent much of her childhood in the farm and its surrounding areas. When she wrote "Anne of Green Gables" she based Green Gables in her novel on the Green Gables of her cousins.

I grew up loving Anne of Green Gables so it was a dream come true for me to finally visit PEI and see in person the world I'd been dreaming about since I was a little girl. Typically, when one puts a place on that high of a pedestal, it is bound to not touch it - however PEI is the first place that has far exceeded my wildest imaginations. I can see how this farm and its woods inspired LMM to write so many amazing novels.
