About this place:
Key West's 1847 Cemetery is different than most cemeteries you'll ever visit. After the 1847 hurricane disinterred the bodies of the old cemetery, they relocated the island's burial spot to higher ground in the middle of the old town. The white-washed, above-ground tombs, headstones and memorials have a unique, tropical feel about them and the easy-going attitude of the island is reflected in many of the engravings around the site.
