men gathered in groups talking, arguing, and playing backgammon in the square in Selcuk
Selcuk is a 30 minute drive east from Kusadasi. It's streets are lined with barbers, rug shops, men playing backgammon, and as many restaurants as days in the year. It has its own Turkish baths, and as soon as you cross over the railroad tracks, you enter the real Turkey. The saturday bazaar/market makes you feel you have really entered into the East, with stalls selling spices, produce, Turkish Delight, and even womens underwear.
Selcuk is also a 10 minute drive from Mary's House and 15 minutes from Ephesus.
