Fruita City turn around in city park during annual Mike the Headless Chicken Days car show.

About this place:

Fruita is a town of around 9,500 people close to the Utah border in western Colorado. It borders onto Grand Junction to the east, Colorado National Monument to the south, and Bookcliffs to the north. Annually they have "Mike the Headless Chicken Days" which are held in May. Mike was a rooster that could not shut up. One day his owner had enough of the racket and decided to have Mike for Sunday chicken dinner. When he went to dispatch Mike to rooster heaven with the axe, he only separated part of his head. The chicken lived and went around the country to fairs with his owner making him a bit of money. Mike was fed by a special tube opening where the head had been and lived that way for almost five years before choking on a kernel of corn.
