Zahlé ("Zahleh") is situated 45 km east of the Lebanese capital city, Beirut, and is itself the capital of Bekaa Governorate (district). With around 100,000 inhabitants, Zahlé is the 8th largest city in Lebanon and the only predominantly Christian city in the Middle East. Zahle is called the bride of the Bekaa Valley. It is famous for its clean air, its resorts and its food.
Zahlé is a place where you can sit back and enjoy a good Arghileh (Middle-Eastern water pipe for smoking smooth, fruit-flavored tobacco) and a taste of traditional Lebanese Mezza. Neighboring Zahlé are the vast and fertile plantation lands of the Bekaa Valley, which is the fertile farming region. Moreover, Zahlé’s fertile lands are home to Lebanon's famous winemaker, Kefraya, and their vineyards (which offers a tour, tastings and boasts a beautiful restaurant).
