Assumption Cathedral, Tula, Russia

The Assumption Cathedral of the Tula Kremlin, as seen through a passageway through the thick kremlin walls.

About this place:

Despite the Western view that "kremlin" is a word solely associated with Moscow, the word translates as fortresss. Centuries ago, all Russian cities had a central, walled kremlin. The kremlin of the city of Tula, was originally constructed in the 14th century.

Sadly, when I visited Tula, it was a public holiday and the Kremlin was closed. Thus all my photographs were taken over the Kremlin wall or through its many locked gates.
