Place to see: Tula Kremlin, Tula, Russia

Domes of the Assumption Cathedral

Domes of the Assumption Cathedral

Here the domes of Tula's Assumption Cathedral can be glimpsed from over the wall of the Tula Kremlin.

About this place:

Despite the Western view that "kremlin" is a word solely associated with Moscow, the word translates as fortresss. Centuries ago, all Russian cities had a central, walled kremlin. The kremlin of the city of Tula, was originally constructed in the 14th century.

Sadly, when I visited Tula, it was a public holiday and the Kremlin was closed. Thus all my photographs were taken over the Kremlin wall or through its many locked gates.
