Place to see: Downtown Tula, Tula, Russia

Downtown Tula

Downtown Tula

With wide streets and brightly painted, pre-Soviet architecture, downtown Tula is a treat for the eyes. (The wires crossing above the street in this photograph are for the trolleybuses.)

About this place:

The historic city of Tula was founded in the 14th century. The downtown (or "center") is a pleasant place for a stroll. Beautifully painted buildings, cathedrals, and (of course) a statue of Lenin are just some of the many things to see.
