A banca boy (helper on an outrigger boat) at sunset while traveling between islands, El Nido, Palawan, Philippines. Boats are the main mode of transportation in El Nido.
Famous for its limestone cliffs, El Nido has been described by veteran travel writers as "heaven on earth". El Nido got its name from the nests of the edible nest swiftlet (Collocalia fuciphaga) that may be found in the cracks and crevices of the cliffs, the same nests used by the Chinese in birds' nest soup. "Nido" is Spanish for "nest".
