Making it to the top

Making it to the top

Well I tried to make it to the top but then the ice stopped me. Better luck next year or in the summer.

About this place:

Mount St. Helens blew it's top off on May 18, 1980. The blast had as much energy as a 24 megaton bomb. Today the mountain is still alive with earthquakes and stem/ash plumes every so often. The mountain is frequented by climbers most during the times of May - Sept, but is open all year round (weather permitting). When you are on the summit you have a fantastic view of the cascade range and surrounding area of Washington and Oregon.

I was amazed that there were patches of flowers here and there. The ride there was so gloomy, the mountains is surrounded by clouds, we couldn't see the top, apparently that is quite common. Although it is grey it is beautiful, the power of nature right in front of us. How barren it all looks.
