Puerto Vallarta, one of the most popular tropical destinations in the world. Located on the beautiful serene waters of Banderas Bay. Very much a quaint seaside city, abundant with white-washed houses and villas, terra-cotta tiled roofs, lush tropical plants, wrought iron gates, windows and doorways.

Iin 1851 the Sánchez family , founded Puerto Vallarta, who came across a stretch of land near what is now called the Rio Cuale River. The family decided it was an ideal place to live and set down roots. The family originally called the place Las Penas, it wasn't until 1918 when the place changed it's name to what it is today, Puerto Vallarta. Puerto, coming from the word "port" and Vallarta for Ignacio Luis Vallarta, who was then the governor of Jalisco, the state to which it is situated.

In 1963, film director John Huston filmed his adaptation of Tennessee William's The Night of the Iguana here. , Puerto Vallarta had roughly 2000 inhabitants in the area then. Once word spread through Hollywood and the rest of the world that Vallarta was a tropical playground, visitors came in droves. Today, Puerto Vallarta still retains much of its original old world charm, with cobblestone streets, terra-cotta roofs, and white washed buildings.

The 'Malecon', boardwalk is dotted with palm trees, and exquisite sculptures made by famous and celebrated local artists. A stroll down the Malecon is a must, especially on Sunday evenings when locals and visitors alike enjoy the many sights, sounds, and flavors as vendors sell their wares. The most nightlife within a short walk. The Curch of Our Lady of Guadalupe and Plaza des Armas are some of the places to check out.
