This trail is just .9 miles to the top, but brutal to say the least... at least to a fat old man with really bad knees!
Crowder's Mountain State Park is just 50 miles west of Charlotte, N.C.
It is a day use park with many trails to challenge the "in-shape hiker" as well as the "out-of shape" hiker. The trails are wll kept and the visitors center can help recommend what trail to take if you are undecided. Once you make the hike to the top, you have beautiful vistas in just about every direction. Since its location is so close to the city, it is a popular destination for hikers from Charlotte, Gastonia and all over North and South Carolina. From Charlotte, take interstate 85 west/south to Gaston County. Take exit 13 and turn left at the stop sign and follow the signs to the park.
Pets are welcomed, but need to remain on a leash.
