A panorama showing the beautiful Kaieteur Falls and the Potaro River valley in Guaya.
Kaieteur Falls is widely recognized as the highest single-drop waterfall in the world -- although some argue that that distinction belongs to Angel Falls in Venezuela. Either way, it's a gorgeous spectacle, and well-worth seeing if you're up for an Amazon rainforest adventure.
You can reach Kaieteur either by jet boat, or via a short flight from the Ogle airstrip, just east of Georgetown. Our friendly guide Chico walked us around to several different vantage points, each more impressive than the last.
Of course the falls are more full and powerful in the wet season, but going during the dry season allows for closer access to the falls.
