Luang Prabang's wats (temples) are similar to northern Siamese or Lanna style with multi-tiered roofs decorated with nagas (mythical water serpents).
Luang Prabang is a sleepy town in north-central Laos perched on the confluence of the Mekong and Khan rivers. It is the most popular place to go in Laos due to its charming slow pace of life and the dozens of beautiful temples. The monasteries house hundreds of young monks and one of the most popular things to see is their daily morning alms procession. There are many fine hotel and restaurant options and day trips.
