Lake in the sky
It was breathtaking scenery, (literally). This was at 10,000+ feet, but worth every breath.
About this place:
Beautiful lakes set in the high Andean grasslands (Pàramo) about 17km from Otavalo Ecuador. This area was protected in 2002 due to the work of Casa Mojanda. Nearby Fuya Fuya a jagged extinct Volcano is within hiking distance from the lakes. Be wise to the altitude while hiking (10,000+ ft.). This makes a good day trip from Otavalo. Guided tours are offered through Casa Mojana, which supports low-impact tourism.
