About this place:

Kanha National Park, a reserve forest in the heartland of India, Madhya Pradesh, is a 940 sq Km wilderness of amazing beauty. It has a rich biodiversity spread across huge tracts of grasslands as well as hilly regions bordering the park. The bright sunny savannas and the thick gloomy dense forests creates images of contrasting moods...which enriches the overall experience.
Kanha is particlarly known for the successful implementation of the Project Tiger - a program launched by the Wildlife department of India - It now boasts around 140 tigers, one of the highest in the country.
The best time to travel is during the peak summer season, as that is the time when the animals are easy to track due to depleting sources of fresh water.
A short distance from Jabalpur or Nagpur (closest major rail / air terminals), Kanha can be reached easliy by flight / train from Mumbai, Delhi etc. A number of hotels run by, both private parties and the wildlife department ensures a more than comfortable stay.
