Wallace Monument

Wallace Monument

Not a cloud in sight - unusual for Scotland. The view from the top is breathtaking.

About this place:

The Wallace Monument stands at the summit of the Abbey Craig in Stirlingshire. Built in celebration of Scotland's national hero William Wallace the monument was completed in 1869 and stands 220 feet tall.

The Wallace Monument is open all year round. Allow yourself plenty of time to stop off at the exhibitions on each level as you make your way up the 246 steps to the crown for breathtaking views over the Ochil Hills and the Forth Valley.

Not to be missed is the claymore sword on display. Standing an impressive 5ft and 4inches tall and weighing in at 6 pounds it is believed to have belonged to William Wallace himself.
