Built over the winter of 1903-1904, the Old Faithful Inn is basically an enormous log cabin literally a stones throw from Old Faithful Geyser. The main hall is 7 stories high, and awesomely creaky, as a huge building made from logs should be, with huge stone fireplaces and cozy chairs throughout. The whole structure feels entirely out of place in modern times. I kept expecting Teddy Roosevelt (who viewed the site the year building began) to come walking in. Presidents, Harding, Coolidge and Franklin Roosevelt all stayed here while they were in office. The inn also has a restaurant with decent food and an excellent bar, as well as buffalo that wander the grounds and hold up traffic. The hotel has added wings over the years, and the 327 rooms are comfortable, (though I have heard that the ones in the main hall are more rustic than the ones in the wing that was added in the 1920's).
