The New Chambers Bay Golf Course is a publicly-owned, links-style course along Puget Sound South of Seattle near Tacoma, Washington. It has ling, undulating fairways lined with native grasses and sand dunes.

About this place:

Robert Trent Jones II has utilized the awe-inspiring location on Puget Sound to create a stunning links-style golf course at Chambers Bay. A publicly-owned facility, the design of this walking-only course allows non-golfers a hiking trail through a stunning coastal setting, among windswept dunes and native fescue grasses. The snow-capped Olympic Mountains rim the western shore and eagles keep silent watch overhead

This golf course will be the site of the 2015 U.S. Open and the 2010 U.S. Amateur Championships and is conveniently located just outside of Tacoma, Washington, about than an hour’s drive from Seattle,

I do not play golf, but I love visiting Chambers Bay Golf Course. There is a public hiking trail through the links. On my walks I frequently see American Bald Eagles soaring or perching overhead. The views from the trails are astounding, combining close-up views of the waters of Puget Sound and stunning views of the majestic Olympic Mountains. The trails undulate through native grasses and sand dunes, and there are always tugs, barges, fishing boats, sail boats, yachts and ferries to watch if you get tired of walking or watching the golfers.
