Bench Lake is a small glacial lake on a day hiking tail to Snow Lake in Mount Rainier National Park. The lake is a scenic spot to rest or admire the view of Mount Rainier along the trail.
Snow Lake is a 2.5 mile, or about a two hour hike from the off-road car park. It is easy to moderate, with a series of slight ridges to cross, ascending and descending into meadows and glacial lakes reaching Bench Lake after ¾ mile, then continuing another ½ mile to Snow Lake. Snow drops and other wild flowers are abundent in late spring, and the fall colors are stunning. In summer, this area is an excellent place to see bear grass and meadow flowers. The camp ground is primitive, but is popular because of the amazing views and easy drive to the trail point. This is a great place to take the kids for their first back country campout because of the easy drive and easy trail.
