One of the many subdivisions in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
I'm no expert at Vietnamese history but from what I have read, up until 1975, these people have been fighting someone almost non-stop for the last thousand years. Now that they have had a generation of peacetime, it seems like there has been a rapid growth and expansion. I don't really understand how people make a living yet. The streets are lined with small shops selling everything from chickens to fake iPods. Most of the shop owners seem to spend more time reading the newspaper or playing checkers though. The architecture is similarly Communist with a Capitalist veneer.
