Paro Dzong's courtyard is a peaceful place to take in traditional Bhutanese architecture - then again, so is the whole country!
Paro Rinpung Dzong was built in the mid 17th century to protect against invasion by Tibet. Dzongs originally served three purposes: fortress, local administrative center, and monastery. The great Paro Tsechu (festival) is held here every spring.
