About this place:

Once a year in October, people from around the world gather at the Richmond International Speedway for food, music, dancing and games. Celtic that is. The Highland Games and Celtic festival is rich in Scottish and Irish culture. You can enjoy a delicious meal while listening to traditional and modern celtic music. Watch the dog herding or the pipes and drums competition. There are always athletic events taking place like the hammer throw or the sheath toss. Looking for a kilt or tapestry, visit one of the many tents along the fairway for intresting gifts and treats. Learn about your Scottish or Irish heritage or join the whiskey tasting. Every year I make it a priority to attend the Highland Games and Celtic Festival at the Richmond International Speedway in Richmond Virginia. There are so many wonderful smells, sights and sounds the senses are overwhelmed. It is a 2 day event that should be attended both days to enjoy it all. Athletic events, dance competitions and herding are just a small part of what goes on. Try to attend if ever in Richmond and find out what's really under those kilts
