Place to see: Jagalchi Fish Market, Pusan, South Korea

About this place:

Jagalchi is a fresh seafood market just beside the harbor in Pusan, South Korea. Its name is derived from the Korean word "jagal" which means pebbles or small rocks and "ch'i" which means seaside village. The market boats some of the freshest, "just off the boat" seafood you'll ever find. Many citizens of Pusan come to the market to choose their meals on the spot and watch them prepared in front of them.

For all the wonder and sensory overload of the market, many of the folks who run the stalls are more than a bit hostile to Westerners, especially those holding cameras. This is very much a working fish market and the fishmongers who make their livelihoods here do not suffer gladly those who visit to look and not buy.
