London, England
London is a city of about seven million people and the capital of England and the United Kingdom. It began as a small port and mercantile settlement on the banks of the Thames River around the beginning of the first century. Around 33 A.D. the Romans bridged the Thames and built an administrative center on the river, naming it Londonium.
Today it is a crossroads of nations and is arguably one of the most diverse cities in the world. As the former seat of the British Empire, the City's influence on global affairs is without parallel. Today it remains one of the most important financial and business centers in the world economy.
