About this place:

Arizona pioneer John Hubbell set up a trading post in Ganado, Arizona in the late 1870's to trade with the Navaho indians who had developed a familiarity and a taste for pioneer goods after hey had been interned by the U.S. government at Bosque Redondo from 1863-1868. Though the Hubbell family turned the post over to the operation of the National Park Service in the 1960's it is still operated as a trading post and general store.

The post and its out-buildings were built with local materials, including sandstone and ponderosa pine timbers. There are also cornstalks, juniper bark and pressed dirt that comprise parts of the walls and the roofs are designed and built in a manner similar to Anasazi-style dwellings.
