Raw Oysters at Hog Island Oyster Company on Tomales Bay, CA

Description

Great for fresh, raw oysters. They offer a rustic picnic area to eat your freshly caught (dug?) oysters. This place can get quite crowded on the weekends. They say that reservations are required. I wouldn't know however, as I usually go during the week.

Hog Island Oyster Company is a great destination all it's own or as a stop off on the way home from a road trip....as we did. We spent the afternoon in Sonoma tasting wine and buying a few bottles. Taking th "long way home" on HWY 1 through Point Reyes Station and Tomales Bay brought us right to Hog Island Oyster Company. The oysters were fresh and delicious. There is a rustic picnic area overlooking Tomales Bay equipped with tables and even a few BBQs if that is how you like your oysters!

We shucked em' ourselves (with rented equipment) and enjoyed sucking back some big oysters. Washing it all down of course with some fine Pinot (red of course) from a local vineyard. A great way to end a long tasty day.
