The Shipwreck Grill offers patrons fine dining off of Barnegat Bay. Just off of Route 35 in Brielle, New Jersey, the menu offers an incredible array of seafood specialities (but don't worry, there are specials for the land lubbers among us...).
The Shipwreck Grill offers patrons fine dining off of Barnegat Bay. Just off of Route 35 in Brielle, New Jersey, the menu offers an incredible array of seafood specialities (but don't worry, there are specials for the land lubbers among us...). Poached lobster, seared chilean sea bass, pistachio crusted grouper, grilled ribeye... the list goes on.
But save room for dessert! REALLY - Not kidding... It's some of the most creative and well done endings to a meal this reviewer has ever had the pleasure to enjoy. Caramelized apple tarte tatin served warm with vanilla ice cream was my favorite. But fortunately there were three of us, we were able to share. Each dish was masterfully prepared and simply heavenly.
If that weren't enough, this buidling has a history to it as well. Fans of the book "Shadow Divers" by author Robert Kurson, will be interested to know that this was - believe it or not - the home of The Harbor Inn (referred to as "The Horrible Inn" by some of its then guests who discovered a lost German U-Boat off the Jersey Shore). Fortunately for fans of The Shipwreck Grill, it is no longer the bar with an edge where "Hard-core smokers choked on the mushroom cloud of cigarette smoke that hovered over the bar." No - the place has changed, but if you use your imagination, you can still hear the echoes of salty stories that were shared in this home to thosed who braved the seas...
