Eastland is a small town in Texas with a big story.

First off Eastland has a outdoor Art Exhibit consisting of 41 pieces of art placed near or on businesses throughout the town. Each piece of art includes a story of the painter's life or interesting details about the original piece of art.

The second thing to see is inside the county courthouse. Old Rip the horned lizard whom is now stuffed and lies inside a velvet casket for all to see. Apparently it was put into a cornerstone of courthouse in 1897 in a time capsule. When the building got ripped down 31 years later and the crowd gathered for the opening of the time capsule they were astonished to find the lizard alive. thats right alive. they promptly took the lizard on a tour of our nations capital and it later developed pneumonia and died. So the town stuffed it and put it on display. You should go read the entire story its great. Also in the town is Majestic Theater which opened in 1920. I happened upon this town late at night on a road trip, these things should be advertised more! I would have planned 2 days in this town if I had known prior!
