Endless beaches stretch towards the mouth of Columbia River in the south...
At the mouth of Columbia River into the Pacific Ocean stands Cape Disappointment named in 1788 by the English explorer John Meares. If you are driving down the West Coast, this is one of great places to stop and visit the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center or the The North Head Lighthouse.
Even better, if you want to spend a few days exploring the area and hiking, you can rent out rooms in one of the lighthouse keeper's homes and enjoy the surroundings.
