Place to see: Royal Tombs, Hu?, Vietnam

Water Dragon

The Tomb of Minh Mang is perhaps the most ornate of Hue's royal tombs. The main building features intricate mosaics, seemingly made from the shards of ceramic crockery.

About this place:

There are several impressive Royal Tombs around Hue from the Nguyen dynasty (1802-1945). You can rent a motorbike in Hue to venture the 2-16km to see them as they are spread around the banks of the Perfume River. Don't worry if you get a flat tire, as repair shops are plentiful and it will only set you back about 25 cents - we got two over the course of the afternoon! You can also get there by tour boat, but that would take a lot of the fun out of it.
