One day while looking for a place to eat along Haight street a shoppe suggested that my wife and I have lunch at the Squat & Gobble across the street. Eager to eat anywhere that has the word squat in the name we heeded his advice, and were glad we did! After eating at the cafe on Haight street near Ashbury many times I learned that there exist many other locations. The only other location I've yet been to is right across the street from the West Portal MUNI station. With that type of convenience eating at Squat & Gobble has become a part of my weekly routine.
I have indulged in ways that can best be described as something beyond gluttony too many times with their french toast, now I stick with their croissant sandwich; however, my wife prefers the fruity nutella dessert crepe with a side of vanilla ice cream. We also usually split a square of chocolate chip pumpkin bread. I highly recommend it.
Simply hop on the K, L or M MUNI train from any downtown station and get off at West Portal, it is across the street.
