A beach is practically deserted as the sun goes down over Lake Tahoe.
Sand Harbor is quite possibly the most picturesque spot on Lake Tahoe. It is located on the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe and is part of the Nevada State Parks system. It is about 1/2 hour drive from Stateline Nevada and is just south of Incline Village, Nevada.
Sand Harbor has 3 cove areas that have wonderful beaches and protected swimming. It also has a place to launch watercraft. Some of the boulders are as big as semi's and provide great swimming and lovely views. There are easy trails around the park that provide information along with breathtaking views of the lake.
The new visitor center offers visitors an education on the formation and history of the lake, along with a relaxing self-guided tour through the center. Next door is a small restaurant which serves snacks, sandwiches, light meals, beer, wine and a lovely outdoor patio close to the lake.
The park is open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Parking costs $8.00 and is well worth the cost as the park is immaculately maintained, the staff is friendly, their is ample parking and...well, it is Lake Tahoe.
