This is the breathtaking view of one of the many gardens at Chenonceau from on of the castle's windows.

About this place:

Chateau de Chenonceau was built in 1513. It is built partially over the Cher's river bank. Inside are Renaissance architecture, paintings and furnishings. Outside are lush gardens and even a hedge maze. It is truly a remarkable place to visit.

Stepping out of our big orange tour bus, I was excited to visit this castle. It was the first of the trip and definitely left the most lasting impression. It was everything I'd imagined a castle to be: lush, perfect gardens; beautiful, towering Renaissance architecture; and an interior that put me in the 1500s when the castle was full of life. My friends and I got to the hedge maze and felt like little kids again, running through, trying to reach the center first. It was a great day: perfect weather, good company and an amazing sight to see.
