Many long hallways are found throughout the resort that are marvelous when the light reflects off the marble...

About this place:

Elegance and luxury defined is what you will experience when staying at The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. This resort has been pampering its guests since 1778, boasting 721 rooms. This includes 33 suites and 96 guest and estate houses. During its first 125 years of operation, it was known by its nickname, the White Sulphur Springs.

If you seek a spa, love to golf (there are three courses), want to get in a tennis match (indoor and outdoor), hope to catch up on equestrian activities or hope to do a little fly fishing, The Greenbrier has something for you. And for history buffs, yes, there is something unique... the bunker. You see, during the Cold War, The Greenbrier was established as an Emergency Relocation Center for the Congress in the event of a nuclear attack. It was finally closed for that purpose in 1995. Today, tours are given of the underground facility, but (unfortunately for the photographers among us) there is to photography allowed. Before that time, it was also used as an internment facility for diplomats from Germany, Italy and Japan for 7 months following the entry of the US in WWII. And before that, the North and South occupied the facility at different points during the Civil War.
