Once night a year, during the summer months, Tohono Chul opens it's doors free to the public to witness the opening of the Night Blooming Cereus, otherwise known as "The Queen of the Night". These fragrant flowers bloom from a cactus that looks like a dead stick, for only one night, then they die.

These fragrant flowers bloom from a cactus that looks like a dead stick. On Bloom Night, dozens to hundreds of these flowers bloom and the park opens with food, entertainment, and luminaria lit paths to the flowers.
