A pirate's mate could draw his own treasure map, and then post it under the old oak tree, tie it up and leave it in a giant glass bottle or take it along.

Many stations encourage kids to stay a whille, and they definitely want to. A pirate ship has an anchor to raise and lower, costumes, and a station to draw your own treasure map. A music room provides many simple percussion instruments for kids to pick up and just improvise. There are many work benches with real vises, saws, and other tools and plenty of materials to build your own contraption. Donated foam, fabric, and trims are available in bins for art projects. Parents might as well get comfortable because this is no time to rush a happy and creative child.

I loved kids just spontaneously playing with kids, collaborating on a huge Lego house, making music, working at the popular tool benches, or sailing the Pirate's Ship. I loved the way electronics were absent but not missed. Sometimes we forget how good it is for kids to role play and just be imaginative. A very popular section had donated clean foam, fabric scraps, buttons, trims and more, and kids helped themselves from a bin at their hearts' content to build and create. Kids can choose to leave their creations at the museum on display or take them home.

Forget about all the electronic gadgets and re-discover the basic play values that are eternal for every child. Marbles is a great, relaxing, kid friendly, hands on museum. It also is adult friendly because at virtually every station, there are seats for parents or others, so they can supervise their kids but save their backs. Adults will also love the photo opportunities of their children wuth great props, costumes and settings. Many stations have gated areas for the very young or to help corral kids. The activities are mostly good old basic kids' play and celebrate childhood.
