Structure 2007

Structure 2007

This is an unusual, unmarked (except for graffiti) structure I came across at a nearly empty beach in the Golden Gate Nat'l Recreation Area across from the SF Zoo. (Great Hwy.

About this place:

this structure might have something to do with sewage or perhaps mark some sort of historic land piece that has eroded with time... - at night - all sorts of things happen here...

I happened across this structure on a desolate stretch of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area after spending the morning at the San Francisco Zoo. I had a few minutes to kill before catching the Muni L Line back into the city, and wandered towards the crashing waves I could hear in the distance down Vicente Street ,where as luck would have it , I found this concrete ruin covered in graffiti. It was an overcast day (maybe why the beach was so empty) and though it evoked a post-nuclear setting, the mysteriousness of the scene piqued my interest. There was no marker or explanation that I could find for it, but was still drawn to sit upon it and gaze out to the sea, missing my train back.
