The historic Beach Chalet houses the Golden Gate Park Visitor Center. Designed by Willis Jefferson Polk in 1924 (built in 1925), the murals within the Visitor Center were commissioned by the government's Work Progress Administration (WPA) in 1936. Artist Lucien Labaudt painted the scenes depicting depression-era San Francisco.
