Many buildings in Verona, Italy are clearly well maintained, but at the same time look like they haven't been touched in centuries.
Verona is modern city in Northern Italy which has retained it's old-world feel due to it's amazing architecture and historical landmarks. The colorful buildings are clearly well maintained, yet somehow also look they haven't been touched for centuries. Aimlessly walking the side streets transports you back in time and provides endless photo opportunities.
It has been named a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and features attractions such as the Arena, the third largest Roman amphitheatre in Italy.
Verona is also the setting the story of Romeo and Juliet, made famous by William Shakespeare. While there is debate on whether the characters actually existed, the Casa di Giulietta (Juliet's House) claims to feature the famous balcony, and has a tarnished bronze statue of Juliet. For good fortune, visitors commonly touch the exposed breast of the statue which now has a golden shine from all the attention.
Other notable locations include the Roman Theatre, the Arco dei Gavi (Gavi Arch) and numerous Romanesque churches such as the Basilica di San Zeno Maggiore and the Duomo di Verona.
