About this place:

navy pier started it's life in 1916 as a pier designed for warehouses and freighter ships. during world war II the navy leased the pier and used it to train sailors and pilots, thus the pier was renamed to honor the sailors. until the late 1980's the pier was dilapidated and considered an eyesore. the pier was rework at great cost and is now a popular tourist attraction, featuring a 150 foot tall ferris wheel, an imax theatre, a stage and many shops and restaurants.
