A penguin's journey

A penguin's journey

This Gentoo penguin is heading back to the ocean to feed. A long trek past the lake and over the mountain.

About this place:

South Georgia is a rugged, beautiful, mountainous island where whaling was once popular. It is now full of wildlife. Where 10's of thousands pairs of albatross, macaroni penguins, gentoo penguins and king penguins breed every year. There is still remainants of the whaling villages rusted and decaying. Sir Ernest Shakleton was buried there in Grytviken on March 5th 1922 during his third Antarctica Expedition. Approximately 2500 people visit this remote place every year.
