Place to see: Wrigley Building, Chicago, Illinois, United States

Vintage Chicago

Vintage Chicago

By climbing aboard an industrial barge docked in the Chicago river (which probably would have gotten me arrested were I caught) I was able to get below street level for this shot. This allowed me to crop out all traces of modern cars, people in modern dress, etc.

About this place:

Though it will soon live in the shadow of Trump Tower, the Wrigley Building remains one of Chicago's most historic and picturesque buildings. Constructed in 1922 by the same Wrigley's responsible for the gum and Wrigley field it was the first of the fantastic buildings along Michigan Avenue. The Tribune Tower across the street went up (after a public architectural competition) in 1925 and the Medinah Athletic Club (now the Hotel Intercontinental) followed in 1927.

The building looks best at night when it's lit with strategically placed floodlights.
