About this place:

A barrier island located in Essex County off the northeast coast of Massachusetts, the northern portion of Plum Island is shared by residents of the town of Newbury and the city of Newburyport. The southern part of the island, known as the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge, is owned and operated by the United States Fish & Wildlife Service.
