The Stanley Hotel's reputation proceeds itself as being hotel that inspired Stephen King to write The Shining. That said, I visited the hotel with expectations of a spooky, deserted hotel. Instead I found a luxurious hotel in a gorgeous mountain background, bustling with people and activity. I never saw a ghost that day but have friends spend the night there and experienced some paranormal activity that kept them up during the night.
