Makua Cave is located on the leeward side of Oahu, Hawaii. The cave is officially named Kaneana Cave but is commonly called Makua Cave, probably due to its proximity to Makua Valley.
Makua Cave is located on the leeward side of Oahu, Hawaii. The cave is officially named Kaneana Cave but is commonly called Makua Cave, probably due to its proximity to Makua Valley. The cave is one hundred feet high and four hundred and fifty feet deep and many years ago it was underwater. According to ancient tradition, entry into Kaneana Cave was forbidden for it was the home of a shark god. This photo shows the view looking out of the cave entrance to Farrington Highway.
